DIFFERENCE: AS A LEADER vs LIKE A LEADER

First of all, Look At The Sentences Below:

1) I worked here as a leader.

2) I worked here like a leader.

In the above examples, both the words AS and LIKE are used as Prepositions. The two sentences are almost the same, but the meanings are very different.

The first sentence, 'I worked here as a leader.' means 'I was a leader here.' But the second sentence, 'I worked here like a leader.' means 'I was not a leader but I had to work here like a leader.'


 Let's Take Another Example,

1) John works in my office as a servant. [John is a servant.]

2) John works in my office like a servant. [John is not a servant but he has to work in my office like a servant.]
